What is MCP?

MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open standard that lets AI assistants connect to external tools and data sources. Instead of copy-pasting data into a chat, the AI can securely query systems directly and act on live information.

Remato provides its own MCP server, so AI assistants like Claude and ChatGPT can work with your Remato organization's data in real time.

What can Remato MCP do?

Once connected, the AI assistant can access your Remato organization. The MCP server exposes the same capabilities as the Remato external API — anything you can do through the REST API, an AI assistant can do via MCP. See the full API documentation for request/response details.

❗️How tool access is controlled depends on the AI provider:

• Claude — each tool can be individually allowed, set to require approval before every use, or blocked (connector settings → Tool permissions).
• ChatGPT — a permission level is set for the whole plugin (Settings → Plugins → Remato → Permissions): Always ask, Allow read actions, Allow low-risk actions (default), or Allow all actions.

• Time tracking: detailed crew reports and piecework reports for any date range
• Crew: users, groups, roles, and custom fields
• Projects and tasks, including task custom fields
• Tools inventory
• Site photos (filterable by project, task, or work entry)
